Salon d'Automne was founded in 1903, while the TAI YANG Art Society was founded in 1934. These two art groups inspired contemporary art concepts and promoted the local art movement. It has an unrivaled status in history.

When the Salon d'Automne was first established, it was in opposition to the government-run salons at that time. Because it was held in autumn, this was the origin of its name. Also, because its spirit was avant-garde and modern, it had a strong influence on the late Impressionism, Fauvism, Cubism and other painting schools. Its establishment was indispensable and influenced the development of artistic activities around the world in the 20th century. The Taiyang Association has made great contributions to the development of Taiwan's art movement and the cultivation of artists since its establishment during the Japanese occupation. Therefore, its development history occupies an important page in the history of Taiwan's art movement.
